Communication on Gameflip is designed to protect both the buyer and the seller. To keep your transactions safe and covered by the Gameflip Guarantee, you should use the platform's built-in messaging tools.
There are three primary ways to communicate with a seller depending on your needs and whether you have already purchased the item.
1. Before You Buy: Listing Comments (Public)
If you have a general question about an item, such as its stats or current availability, you can use the ASK THE SELLER section at the bottom of the listing page.
Visibility: These comments are public. Anyone browsing the listing can see your question and the seller's response.
Requirements: To prevent spam, your account must have at least 5 positive feedback ratings to post a public comment.
2. Before You Buy: The "Contact" Button (Private)
If you have a specific request, like asking for a custom bundle or checking if the seller will be online for a delivery, you can initiate a private chat before making a purchase.
How to find it: Look for the Contact button near the seller’s name on the listing page or on their profile page.
Privacy: Unlike listing comments, this chat is private between you and the seller.
Seller Preferences: Some sellers may choose to disable this feature in their privacy settings. If the button is missing, you will need to use the public listing comments instead.
3. After You Buy: Private Order Chat
Once you purchase an item, Gameflip automatically opens a dedicated private chat room for that specific transaction.
Coordination: This is the primary place to exchange Gamertags, in-game meeting locations, or for the seller to provide digital codes.
Official Record: This chat serves as the official evidence for Gameflip Support. If a dispute occurs, support will review these logs to resolve the issue.
Step-by-Step: How to Message a Seller
| Scenario | Location | Visibility |
|---|---|---|
| General Question | Listing Comments (Bottom of page) | Public |
| Specific Request | "Contact" button (Near seller name) | Private |
| After Purchase | Order Page (Menu > Purchases) | Private |
Important Safety Reminders
Stay on the Platform
Sellers may occasionally ask you to move the conversation to Discord, Steam, or social media. Never move your communication off Gameflip.
If you communicate or coordinate a trade outside of Gameflip, the Gameflip Guarantee is voided. Gameflip Support cannot verify what happened on external apps and will not be able to assist you if the transaction goes wrong.

What to do if a Seller isn't responding
Pre-Purchase: If a seller doesn't respond to a comment or a private contact message within 24 hours, they may be inactive. It is recommended to look for a different seller.
Post-Purchase: Sellers have a set "Handling Time" (usually 1–3 days) to deliver. If the handling time expires and the seller has not responded in the order chat, an option to cancel the order button will appear on the order page, allowing you to request a full refund immediately. You should open a dispute if the seller indicated that the item was delivered, but did not deliver and remained unresponsive.
