We noticed an uptick in scam attempts where individuals impersonate Gameflip, sending emails claiming that items have been sold and must be delivered—primarily targeting Rocket League items. Here’s how it typically unfolds: The scam often starts outside of Gameflip, where a seller expresses interest in selling an item. A potential buyer (the scammer) suggests using Gameflip for the transaction's security. Once the item is listed, the seller receives a fake email, mimicking our format and appearing to confirm the sale. These emails look convincing but always come from a @gmail.com address, such as:
Please remember, Gameflip will never contact you from anything other than our official @gameflip.com addresses, like > no-reply@gameflip.com. To protect yourself and your transactions, please:
- Always verify the sender's email address for any Gameflip-related communication.
- Follow our recommended selling procedures, which you can review here.
- Never share your contact information publicly before an item is sold.
- Never proceed with a transaction if a buyer insists on sharing their contact information before purchasing your item.
- Always confirm that an item was actually sold by checking through Menu > Listings > Sold.
Your safety is our priority. By staying vigilant and following these guidelines, we can work together to keep our community secure.
If you encounter any suspicious activity, please report it to us immediately. Thank you for being a part of Gameflip. Let's keep our marketplace safe for all.
