At Gameflip, we’re committed to keeping our community safe—but we also need your help. Below is a breakdown of some of the most common scams that target both buyers and sellers.
Impersonating Gameflip
Scammers will use the Gameflip logo, a profile name like “Purchase Confirmation,” or send fake emails pretending to be us. For example, you might see a comment on your listing saying your item has sold and to send it to a specific account. Or you might receive an email from a “@gmail.com” address claiming to be Gameflip. Always verify your sale directly in the platform. Gameflip will never write comments on listings or send emails from anything other than an official “@gameflip.com” domain.
“Rate-first” scam
Some sellers ask you to leave a positive rating before you’ve received the item or been able to test it. Once you rate, the transaction is finalized and you lose any protection under the Gameflip Guarantee. If you haven’t received or verified your item, don’t complete the rating.
Fake “sold” listings or off-platform deals
A buyer might try to trick you into shipping or delivering an item outside of Gameflip—via comments, DMs, or external messaging. Since the sale wasn’t recorded on Gameflip, you’re not protected. Always confirm the “Sold” status in your Gameflip app or website under Menu > Listings > Sold before sending anything.
Buyer or seller asking to rate, pay, or deliver early
Any request that violates the standard flow—like delivering an item before official payment confirmation or demanding a rating before delivery—is a red flag. These moves aim to bypass Gameflip safeguards.
Phishing messages and fake support contacts
Scammers might send usernames like “Gameflip Support” or “Technical Team” claiming to help you. These messages often contain links or ask for personal info. Gameflip support will only reach you through official channels and never ask for sensitive details such as your password.
If you encounter anything suspicious—such as unusual messages, fake profiles, requests outside the platform, or anything that just doesn’t feel right—please stop the conversation, take screenshots, and report it to Gameflip Support immediately. Our team will investigate and act to keep our marketplace safe for everyone.
Protect your account and codes
- Never share your password, authentication codes, or access to your Gameflip account with anyone.
- For code listings, ensure you’re sending the correct code only after it’s purchased and the payment is confirmed.
- For physical items, use tracking and verified shipping methods.
Report anything unusual
If you encounter a user who uses fake profiles, poses as Gameflip staff, pressures you to act quickly, or attempts to shift the transaction off platform, document the interaction with screenshots and report them via Menu > Help > Contact Support.
By staying alert and following these guidelines, you help protect yourself and the entire Gameflip community from scams.
